The Patentix Corporation (Headquarters: Kusatsu City, Shiga Prefecture; CEO: Toyosuke IBI), which conducts research and development of semiconductor substrates and power devices using the ultra-wide band gap (UWBG) power semiconductor material germanium dioxide (GeO2), has raised ¥50 million in a seed round through J-KISS type stock acquisition rights, with the Ritsumeikan Social Impact Fund Investment Limited Partnership (Plus Social Investment Co. Ltd.; Headquarters: Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture; CEO: Masato Noike) as the underwriter.
With this, Patentix Corporation will not only accelerate the research and development of the new GeO2 semiconductor pioneered by Professor Kentaro Kaneko, RARA Fellow at Ritsumeikan University (and who also serves as CTO of the company), but also promote the social implementation of massively energy saving GeO2 semiconductor devices with the aim of realizing a sustainable, low-carbon society.
